About the country

Cyprus is an island in the Mediterranean. It is home to mountains in the north and south, and the southern coast is covered with plains. Culture

It speaks Greek, English, and Turkish. There are mixed Greek and Middle Eastern culture. It is customary for guests to receive a small gift when invited for dinner. Informal clothing can be dressed but bathing suits should be limited to beaches. Social functions require formal dresses.

Places to visit

The country has many vineyards, 12th-century buildings, gardens, and monasteries. Be careful when taking pictures outside. In military areas, special permission to take pictures in places such as museums and art galleries is prohibited. Most of them prevent flash photography. Taxis can be rented to move in large Cypriot cities, which charge a fee on government-determined meters. The end of the regulators is normal.

The national airline is Cyprus Airways. It connects most major European cities. Forty other airlines also provide services at Larnaca Airport, 5 km from Larnaca, and 50 km from Nicosia. Taxis can be rented to reach any location because there are no buses and trains at the airport. Other services offered at this airport include duty-free shops, banks, tourist and hotel information, restaurants, car rental, post office, and reservation office. The next airport, Paphos, is 15 km from the city, and the airport is a 35-minute drive away. It offers the same facilities as Larnaca Airport.

The main ports of Cyprus are the port of Limassol and the port of Larnaca, connecting other ports in the Middle East and Greece. It offers not only ferry services but also cruise services.

The island of Cyprus is not connected by roads to other countries, but the roads cross Cyprus and connect all cities. Buses run on roads except for Sundays, but during the summer they are late at night. Tourists can go to rural buses to get to the remote villages, but they are very slow. If you plan to rent a car, it is advisable to book in advance, especially in summer, as the reservation is full. Remember to take a national driving license or an international driving license.
